Toy rotation doesn’t end with…well…toys. I also rotate books to avoid overwhelm and to match current interests and seasons. This is what we are currently reading:
One Tiny Turtle by Nicola Davies.
One interest of P’s that has not changed for a while is Turtles. We have the entire set of these nature books, as they are just beautifully written and illustrated. They are written as both fiction and non fiction so for the younger audience there is a story and for older children there are facts throughout. Definitely worth a read if you haven’t already.
The Storm Whale by Benji Davies.
This was a great Library find. P loves this book. It is about a little boy called Noi who finds a baby whale beached after a storm. I won’t give much else away but it’s just lovely.
Usbourne: Peep Inside The Sea by Anna Milbourne
We were gifted two of these peep inside books for P’s Birthday by my Mum and I’m so glad we were. They are full of facts for little minds. P loves to lift the flaps to find out the answers so I can tell she is listening and understanding the information. Fantastic series. Will definitely be getting more.
Sharing A Shell by Julia Donaldson
This was ‘The Singing Mermaid’ until over reading caused the book to practically disintegrate. I don’t find you can go wrong with Julia Donaldson. The rhyming is great for toddlers to build up their vocabulary. Try reading a few lines and leaving the last word for them to fill in – you may be surprised with what they know!

Winnie At The Seaside by Valerie Thomas
Not my favourite I have to admit, but there is something about the Winnie The Witch series that catches P’s (and G’s!) interest. Here is a story of Winnie going to the beach on a hot day with lots of actions and noisy parts for your child to join in with.
