Sorry for the radio silence. The first autumnal illness was caught (luckily only by me) but it has put me out of action for a while! We are in a desperate need of a toy rotation and some outdoors time but I have managed to keep up with the change in the month today and our bookshelf.
Here is what I have rotated onto P’s bookshelf for this month:

Room On A Broom by Julia Donaldson
P absolutely loves this book and can now recite most of the story. Not at all Montessori (lots of talking animals and a dragon) but I have noticed her using this story in her play recently and it is one that she requests a lot when it is rotated away.

Whatever Next by Jill Murphy
This is one of my favourites. A story about a little bear using his imagination (a box, his wellington boots and a colander) to fly up to the moon one evening. A simple story that is easily followed in play.

Winnie In Space by Valerie Thomas
P is still obsessed with any Winnie story, so I have chosen this one following on from a lot of interest about stars and the moon. Winnie and Wilbur take an adventure into space only to find space rabbits who take a fancy to their rocket. Lots to talk about on each page.

Moon by Patricia Hegarty
This was purchased after a lot of recommendations and we loved one of the other titles ‘Bee’. The illustrations are stunning and P has spent a long time looking at these and watching the moon change shape in the centre of the book. A great book for talking about moon phases and nocturnal creatures.
Watch out soon for our favourite Autumn themed books!
